Cricket team hoists Mayor’s Trophy twice in past three years


The Mayor’s Cricket Trophy is back with the Commission after the TTC Cricket Team beat the Toronto Police at CIMA’s 10th Annual Toronto Celebration of Cricket tournament at Sunnybrook Park on June 21.

The Mayor’s Cricket Trophy is back with the Commission after the TTC Cricket Team beat the Toronto Police at CIMA’s 10th Annual Toronto Celebration of Cricket tournament at Sunnybrook Park on June 21.

TTC’s Cricket Team has now won the Mayor’s Trophy twice in the last three years. They won their first championship in 2012.

“The team made it to the final round undefeated and faced the police in the final game. Captain Farouk Kirmani performed well in the final and led his team to victory," said Team Manager Peter Karunaratne.

This year’s tournament included a second team from Subway Operations. They beat the Metro News team in an exhibition game. Congratulations to the winners of that match (photo below): Bernard Nives, Sameer Choski, Andel Felix, Hassan Milik, Tom Rebane, Prem Inder, Jitender Kumar, Andy Byford, Moshin Patel, Roy Lallkissoon and Missir Kumar.
