The TTC and BAI Canada are pleased to announce that free Wi-Fi is complete at all stations around the downtown “U” on Line 1 (Yonge-University), and is now available at Spadina and Bay stations on Line 2 (Bloor-Danforth). The installation was completed last week and arrives well ahead of the Toronto 2015 Pan Am/Parapan Am Games.

Subway stations equipped with Wi-Fi are: Bloor-Yonge, Wellesley, College, Dundas, Queen, King, Union, St Andrew, Osgoode, St Patrick, Queen’s Park, Museum, St George, Spadina and Bay.

The service, branded as TCONNECT, allows access to the internet, including e-mail, social media, and real-time transit updates. Connecting is easy for subway riders, who simply select “TCONNECT” in the settings of their wireless device, open their internet browser and click Connect on the TCONNECT home page. The network is available in all public areas of stations, including platforms, mezzanines, walkways and stairwells.

Wireless connectivity is scheduled to reach all subway stations over the next two years. The service is financially supported through advertising and comes at no cost to the TTC or its customers. The wireless system installed inside subway stations is also capable of allowing cellular connectivity once wireless service providers activate their service on the network.
