Vaughan Metropolitan Centre (VMC) became the third Line 1 extension station to be handed over by contractors on Oct. 16. Located in the City of Vaughan, VMC is the TTC’s first station in the 905 region.

VMC is the subway’s most northerly station. It’s more than 30 kilometres away from Union Station. A one-way trip making 21 stops in the midday will take an average of 43 minutes.

VMC will be showcased to the public on Oct. 28, alongside Highway 407 and Pioneer Village Station open houses hosted by the TTC and its funding partners.

As of Oct. 16, the TTC is 62 days out from the start of revenue service on the Toronto-to-York subway extension, which is scheduled for Sun., Dec. 17.

The Toronto-York Spadina Subway Extension project is a six-station, 8.6-km extension of the Line 1 Yonge-University Subway from the current Sheppard West Station, northwest through York University, and north into York Region. It represents the TTC’s first subway expansion crossing the municipal boundary of Toronto into the 905 region.
