August Board Period Service Changes


Starting on Sunday, August 1, the TTC will be making the following service adjustments:

Major Service Changes

Service adjustments will be made on many routes in response to changed ridership since the pandemic. Routes with lower ridership will have service levels reduced, and some routes with higher utilization will have service levels improved. This will apply the new guidelines for planning crowding approved since in the 2021 Annual Service Plan.

Service reliability improvements

The program for continuous monitoring and improvement to schedules to better match observed operating conditions will result in new schedules for the following routes:

Construction projects beginning

> Stage 2 of the King-Queen-Queensway Roncesvalles intersection closure – 501L/P/301L Queen rerouted, 504/304G/Q King reconsolidated and rerouted.

> Royal York Station Easier Access remedial work – route at Royal York Station will serve on street due to closure.

> York Mills Station bus terminal closure begins mid-August 2021 – all routes impacted by private construction of the York Mills Station driveway, routes will be diverted to temporary terminal in the northwest corner of Yonge and Wilson.

Construction projects continuing

> TTC and City construction at King-Queen-Queensway Roncesvalles, until December 2021.

> TTC overhead upgrades along the 501 Queen corridor, until December 2021.

> City road construction on Wellington Street, until September 2021.

> City watermain and bridge construction on Cummer Ave between Bayview and Leslie – 42 Cummer diverted in the westbound direction.

> Wilson Station lower level construction – routes diverted until late 2021.

> TTC and City track work on Queen Street, until late fall 2021.

> Donlands Station Easier Access construction – 56 Donlands and 83 Jones diverted until 2022.

Service changes requiring stop or stop announcement modifications

> Construction changes for 501L/P/301L Queen routing change.

> Construction changes for reconsolidation and rerouting of 504/304G/Q King.


Service Changes – Bus

York Mills Station bus terminal temporary closure

Customer impact: Major

Effective date: mid-August 2021

Construction by York Mills Centre, which is the commercial complex above York Mills Station, will require the temporary closure of the bus terminal. Construction is expected to last three months. During the construction, buses will divert to a temporary bus terminal set up in the parking lot located at the northwest corner of Yonge Street and Wilson Avenue. There will be no change to bus schedules. The 95 York Mills, 96 Wilson, 115 Silver Hills, 122 Graydon Hall, 165 Weston Rd North, 995 York Mills Express and 996 Wilson Express will use the temporary terminal. The remaining routes, 78 St Andrews and 97 Yonge, will serve York Mills Station on street.

Wilson Station bus terminal construction

Effective date: postponed to October 2021

Construction will begin at Wilson Lower to rehabilitate the bus terminal driveway and surrounding area. As a result, access to the lower bus terminal will be closed and bus routes will need to divert for customers. A temporary bus loop will be constructed on the east side of Wilson Station, off of Wilson Heights Boulevard.

Effective date: August 1, 2021

The bus terminal at Royal York Station will be closed for four weeks to accommodate remedial construction work for the Easier Access project. Bus routes will be scheduled to serve on-street stops at Royal York Road and Bloor Street.

28 Bayview South

The schedules on this route will be adjusted for all periods of the week to help improve on-time performance. Service levels will be improved during all periods.

30 High Park

Effective date: August 1, 2021

The schedules on this route will be adjusted for all periods of the week to help improve on-time performance. Service levels will be improved during the daytime and early evening periods.

35 Jane

> Service increase – pandemic service response

Customer impact: Moderate

Effective date: August 3, 2021

Weekday early morning service will be supplemented with additional trips. Additional northbound trips will operate before 6 a.m. from Lawrence Avenue to Pioneer Village Station.

37 Islington

48 Rathburn

The bus terminal at Royal York Station will be closed for four weeks to accommodate remedial construction work for the Easier Access project. Bus routes will be scheduled to serve on-street stops at Royal York Road and Bloor Street.

50 Burnhamthorpe

52 Lawrence West

55 Warren Park

The schedules on this route will be adjusted for all periods of the week to help improve on-time performance. Service levels will improve in the afternoon peak period.

60 Steeles West

Effective date: August 1, 2021

The schedules on this route will be adjusted for all periods of the week to help improve on-time performance. Additionally, service will be added in the afternoon peak period to reduce observed crowding issues west of Pioneer Village Station. Service will increase to every four minutes. Early morning service will also be supplemented with additional trips. Four additional westbound trips will operate between 5 a.m. and 5:30 a.m. from Dufferin Street to Martin Grove Road.

64 Main

86 Scarborough

Customer impact: Minor

Effective date: August 3, 2021

Schedules on 86 Scarborough will be adjusted Monday to Friday to improve service. There will be a minor change in service levels. Late evening trips to the Toronto Zoo will continue to run as a service between the Zoo and Meadowvale Loop.

95 York Mills

120 Calvington

Effective date: August 1, 2021

The schedules on this route will be adjusted for all periods of the week to help improve on-time performance. Service levels will be improved in the peak periods from Monday to Friday, and in the afternoon on Saturday.

315 Evans

The bus terminal at Royal York Station will be closed for four weeks to accommodate remedial construction work for the Easier Access project. Bus routes will be scheduled to serve on-street stops at Royal York Road and Bloor Street. The 315 Evans will be extended to Islington Station via Bloor Street for the duration of the project.

952 Lawrence West Express

953 Steeles East Express

Service Changes – Streetcar

501/301 Queen

> Bus routing change – TTC/City construction at King-Queen-Queensway-Roncesvalles

> Queen Street West rolling closures continue – TTC/City construction

Customer impact: Major

Effective date: July 21, 2021

As a result of the second stage of intersection closure at the King-Queen-Queensway-Roncesvalles intersection as of July 21, the 501L Queen (Long Branch-Broadview), 501P Queen (Park Lawn-Broadview) and 301L Queen (Long Branch-Broadview) replacement bus services will be changed to operate through the intersection via their regular routing on Queen Street West, both ways.

504/304 King

> Bus routing change/restructure – TTC/City construction at King-Queen-Queensway-Roncesvalles

Customer impact: Major

Effective date: July 21, 2021

As a result of the second stage of intersection closure at the King-Queen-Queensway-Roncesvalles intersection as of July 21, the 504G King (Dundas West Stn-Roncesvalles Yard) and 504Q King (Triller-Princes’ Gates) replacement bus services will be reconsolidated into one service, 504C King (Dundas West Stn-Princes’ Gates). West/northbound buses will divert around the new closure at the Queensway and King Street West via Dufferin Street and Queen Street West, while east/southbound buses will divert via Queen Street West and Triller Avenue. There will be no westbound service on King Street West between Dufferin Street and the KQQR intersection. The 304G King (Dundas West Stn-Roncesvalles Yard) night bus service will be removed and consolidated into an extended 304 King (Dundas West Stn-Broadview Stn) service, in order to provide customers with a continuous journey during the multiple construction projects affecting the route. First and last trip times will remain the same. There will be no changes to 504 King (Dufferin Gate-Distillery) streetcars or 504D King (Broadview Stn-Parliament) replacement buses.
