I would like to take this opportunity to personally thank you for participating in the Employee Engagement Survey. I completed mine online at my desk in just 15 minutes.

The survey closed on Nov. 24. The overall survey participation rate was at 36 per cent, which is great for a first time survey of this nature, and will enable us to begin to address the areas of concern that employees will have identified as needing improvement.

R.A. Malatest and Associates, the research company, has started the process of analyzing the results and will report survey findings to the TTC Executive, and then all employees, early next year. Malatest will also administer the prize draw and will be contacting the five winners of the iPads by mail or e-mail after Dec. 15.

This survey is an important tool to gauge the climate of the workforce on a range of issues and to develop a list of actions to make real change where it’s needed. I’m certain that the small amount of time that you invested in providing your genuine feedback is going to have a big impact on where we go from here.

After the survey findings are reported to you, there will be a need for further, more detailed discussions of survey results specific to your areas. Out of these discussions will come a list of actions that will address issues that are important to you. These actions will form a set of departmental action plans for the leadership to monitor and provide periodic updates on.

The TTC will focus its attention in 2015 on taking the necessary steps to continue forging a new workplace culture to support the vital role we all play in delivering a transit system that makes Toronto proud.
