Message from the Executives

Congratulations on your 60th anniversary!

As Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Toronto Transit Commission, and on behalf of the 13,000 women and men in our workforce, it is my great pleasure to congratulate the Halton County Radial Railway Museum on its 60th anniversary.

As Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Toronto Transit Commission, and on behalf of the 13,000 women and men in our workforce, it is my great pleasure to congratulate the Halton County Radial Railway Museum on its 60th anniversary.

1954 was a great year for both our organizations. 60 years ago, the newly formed Toronto Transit Commission opened Canada’s First Subway – the original Yonge line from Eglinton to Union.

For the last six decades the museum, and the Ontario Electric Railway Historical Association and all its volunteers, have worked diligently and with complete care to inform, educate and inspire the public about the history of electric railways in Ontario and across Canada.

The TTC is honoured to have contributed to that mission by donating rolling stock, equipment and expertise towards the preservation of public transit history in the city of Toronto. We look forward to working together for many, many more decades to come.

Best wishes on an enjoyable 60th anniversary event on Saturday, July 19, 2014.

Sincerely,

Chris Upfold
Deputy Chief Executive Officer
