NOTICE TO ALL TTC EMPLOYEES
Dear TTC colleagues,
I promised to keep you updated on the ongoing investigation into the benefits fraud relating to a supplier called Healthy Fit.
Five TTC employees have now been dismissed as part of the ongoing investigation. I previously advised you that we will leave no stone unturned and I am determined that anyone found wanting will answer for the consequences of their actions.
You will recall that this fraud came to light as a result of anonymous information provided on the confidential, third-party administered, Integrity line. The alleged fraud involves collusion between the owner of Healthy Fit and clients to defraud the TTC’s benefits plan by paying out on claims for products that were never received.
It is only right that we take a very tough line on dealing with this matter. Not only does this put our benefits package at risk, it also undermines the credibility and honesty of each and every one of us in the eyes of the public, just as we are working so hard to restore our reputation.
Rest assured, individual cases are determined based on their own merits. Interviews, however, are continuing and, unfortunately, more dismissals are likely to follow.
The overwhelming majority of TTC employees are decent, honest, hard-working professionals that would not dream of indulging in benefits fraud, as I indicated to you in the benefits fraud newsletter sent to all employee homes this summer. Many of you, in fact, have told me that you are sickened by such behaviour. For that reason, the Integrity line is here to stay.
