Message from the Executives

Employee Engagement Survey deadline extended to November 30

Two years ago we held the first ever Employee Engagement Survey as part of our Employee Charter commitments.

The following letter from CEO Andy Byford was mailed to all employees in October.

TTC Employee Engagement
Tell us. We’re listening.

Dear Colleagues,

Two years ago we held the first ever Employee Engagement Survey as part of our Employee Charter commitments.

Since then, many TTC leaders have taken action on your feedback; I hope you have seen positive changes in your area. There is still more to be done, and it is time to check on progress and get more of your input and ideas. I’m pleased to confirm that the next Employee Engagement Survey will take place from October 24-November 21, 2016.

This year, I would like to see higher levels of participation right across the board. The Employee Engagement Survey is your opportunity to tell us how you feel about a wide range of topics. While I hold your leaders accountable for putting your feedback to action, we need your participation in the process to inform and guide our actions. In short, we need to hear from all of our employees – every voice counts.

The Employee Engagement Survey is based on the principle of confidential survey feedback and collaborative action planning and execution. To that end, we have once again commissioned a top-notch, independent, third-party research vendor, R.A. Malatest and Associates Ltd., to conduct the survey. As a Gold Seal member of the Marketing Research Intelligence Association (MRIA), Malatest abides by the MRIA’s Codes of Conduct that are based on the principles underlying the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

Malatest cannot and will not share your individual survey with anyone at the TTC. Ever. All answers will be treated with complete confidentiality. Malatest will analyze the raw survey data and create departmental, group and TTC-wide reports. To further preserve your confidentiality, Malatest does not provide results from groups with fewer than 10 employee responses.

To complete the survey, employees will either receive an e-mail invitation from Malatest through a secure web link on October 24 or a paper version of the survey. The paper survey for some will be delivered and completed in the workplace. All others will be mailed to homes. If you have questions about this, please contact Malatest at 416-644-0161 or e-mail Asa Goldman, Malatest’s analyst, at a.goldman@malatest.com.

While the survey is voluntary, remember that this survey is for you. I urge you to take the approximately 10-20 minutes it will take to complete the survey and make your voice count. And please encourage your co-workers to do the same. Analyzing and reporting the results of a survey to almost 14,000 people will take some time. We look forward to sharing survey results with everyone next spring.

Thank you.
