Final opportunity to comply with Mandatory Vaccine Policy

UPDATE – Final opportunity to comply with the TTC’s Mandatory Vaccine Policy

Thank you everyone for your time and patience as we work through one of the most difficult times in TTC history.

As you know, the TTC’s COVID-19 Mandatory Vaccinations Policy requires all employees, contractors and students working for the organization to obtain two vaccine doses (or one dose of a single dose series) by October 30 or they risk being unavailable to work. We know that many of our employees are fully vaccinated and have disclosed their status to us. To date, 85 per cent of the TTC’s 15,061 active employees have shared their COVID-19 vaccination status.

Recognizing that over 600 of you have received your first dose in the last few weeks, we have updated the policy to allow employees until the end of the day on November 20, 2021, to receive their second dose of a COVID-19 vaccination.

What happens after November 20?

> Effective November 21, 2021, employees who have not received their second dose (or one dose of a single dose series) will be immediately placed on an unpaid absence and be given up to December 30, 2021, to comply with the vaccination policy. Employees will not be able to use their vacation or other lieu time to maintain their pay during the period of unpaid absence.

> Once an employee has received two doses (or one dose of a single dose series) during the period from November 21 to December 30, and after the TTC has validated their vaccination status, they can return to work.

Employees who do not share their vaccination status will be considered unvaccinated in accordance with the Policy.

To update your vaccine status, please use the Vaccination Portal on myttc.ttc.ca or e-mail your vaccine receipt to vaccine.info@ttc.ca (your Manager can also assist with this). The TTC will not be accepting vaccine QR codes as proof of vaccination at this time.

We remain committed to these action – safety is the cornerstone of everything we do and that means keeping you safe on the job. After 20 months of living with COVID-19, we know that getting vaccinated is the best way to protect ourselves, our co-workers and our families.

If you would like to review our updated Mandatory Vaccination Policy, it can be found on our website at ttc.ca/COVID-19. The measures listed above do not apply to employees with an approved Ontario Human Rights Code accommodation or medical exemption.

We are here to support you. To date, the TTC has held 46 vaccination clinics for employees as well as customers, and there are many more planned in the coming weeks. More than 8,000 shots have been administered at these clinics.

Thank you for your continued support, and stay safe.
