Message from the Executives
Office of the Chief Executive
The great tradition that is the Canadian National Exhibition kicks off tomorrow (August 19) with its 144th opening day celebrations. Exciting attractions, exhibits, great food, fun rides, games and the Canadian International Air Show are all back. CNE visitors will arrive daily by the thousands on the TTC until closing day on September 5.
As always, the best ride to Toronto’s great fair is by the TTC with extra buses and streetcars running on all routes leading to Exhibition Place. And don’t forget that all employees and pensioners can enjoy discounted tickets to the EX courtesy of the TTC Recreation Council.
While the CNE kicks off on Friday, on Saturday we officially close out our 100th year celebrations with a finale event at Hillcrest. Visitors can also tour several of our current and vintage buses and streetcars as well as board a shuttle bus to Toronto Archives on Spadina Road to enjoy the photography exhibit, 100 Years of Moving Toronto, all free of charge. Everyone is also welcome to partake in a TTC barbecue with all proceeds going to United Way Greater Toronto.
The best way to get Hillcrest Complex at 1138 Bathurst St. is by taking the 7 Bathurst bus. The closeout event runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Also, I want to remind people that Saturday, August 20 is Warriors’ Day and the TTC is honouring Canadian military members, veterans and peacekeepers, and one travelling companion, with free rides anywhere across our system. Each year, the TTC recognizes their valuable contributions on Warriors' Day and on Remembrance Day.
Whatever your plans, have a wonderful weekend and stay safe.
