Message from the Executives

Office of the Chief Executive

Congratulations to the TTC Red Rockets cricket team on reaching the Mayor’s Cup final on July 2. Cricket teams from the public, private and community sectors returned to action at Sunnybrook Park after a two-year pause. Our Red Rockets played well against other transit agencies and public organizations and advanced to the championship match, but missed getting the better of the Canadian Police team in the final.

The TTC’s squad was made up of employees from across organization. Congratulations on a well-played tournament to: Zaheer Allard; Kulvinder Dhillon; Roy Lallkissoon; Ujagar Singh Sohi; Adil Pathan; Amjad Khan; Fahim Nasir; Hassan Malik; Ken Calliste; Shaiful Islam; Ravi Silva; Hifzur Hafejee; Chaudary Abdul Jabbar; Mohammed Muzmmal; Mohammed Riyad, Bin Reza; Sukhjinder Cheema; team captains Mohammed Shaikh and Farouk Kirmani; and team manager Mohsin Patel.

It’s terrific to watch these wonderful events returning to in-person competition. Keep in mind, the TTC Recreation Council is holding its Annual Softball Tournament on July 23, with teams from across the property preparing for some fun-filled rivalry. Good luck to everyone participating.

Nominations open for Rewards and Recognition
Nominations are now open for the Rewards and Recognition program. Please make some time in your day to recognize a colleague’s outstanding efforts in making a difference and leading to the TTC’s overall success.

The categories are: Customer Service, Diversity, Leadership, Teamwork, Safety, and Innovation and Creativity. All employees can participate in the nomination process, and all employees are eligible to win. Please submit your nominations no later than July 29.

Upcoming Board Meeting – July 14
A quick reminder to everyone that the next scheduled Commission meeting on Thursday, July 14 is the last regular meeting of this Board term. The 2022 schedule was condensed as a result of the municipal election on October 24.

This public session will be the first to transition to a hybrid model, whereby Commissioners and the public will have the option to attend in-person at City Hall’s Council Chamber or to participate remotely. The meeting will be live-streamed on the Official TTC YouTube Channel, starting at 10 a.m. as usual.

I’d like to end my weekly message by extending heartfelt condolences to the family of retired ATU Local 113 President Art Patrick. Mr. Patrick died on June 30 at the age of 83. Mr. Patrick joined the TTC in 1962 as an Operator at Birchmount Division. He served as President from 1992 to 1997.

Stay safe.
