National Day of Observance for COVID-19

Today (March 11), marks the first National Day of Observance to commemorate the people who lost their lives as well as the significant impacts we have all felt because of COVID-19. Today, we will be lowering flags to half-mast on TTC properties to recognize the National Day of Observance for COVID-19.

It has been a long two years and the pandemic has impacted every part of our lives. We have lost colleagues and we have lost friends. The pandemic has forced the TTC to make a number of changes and I know you have all had to make many sacrifices in your personal lives. The uncertainty created because of COVID-19 has added a great deal of added pressure on everyone.

I also want to make sure you are all taking the time to take care of yourselves – making sure TTC employees have access to supports is a key priority for me personally. The immediate and confidential Employee Family and Assistance Program (EFAP also known as Lifeworks) is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. To get in touch with EFAP, please call 1-800-572-0039. You can also access these supports on the MyEAP App or online at workhealthlife.com. To access the TTY (TeleTYpe) support line, dial 711 (TTY to Voice) or 1-800-855-1155 (TTY to TTY).

Many of you are juggling a lot and new challenges are still being thrown your way every day because of this pandemic. Know that the TTC is like one big family, and we are here to support you.

Stay safe.
