Service increases, reliability improvements continue

The latest round of service increases and reliability improvements took effect this past Sunday (May 8).

May’s Service Board Period saw increases and improvements on multiple routes, and new schedules to improve service reliability were introduced on several other routes. Along with seasonal increases on the 86 Scarborough, 92 Woodbine South and 175 Bluffer’s Park services, we also introduced two new seasonal routes: 172 Cherry Beach and 174 Ontario Place-Exhibition.

Additional improvements are planned for the June Board Period, which begins on Sunday, June 19. With ridership making a gradual comeback, we’ll continue with service restoration on routes that were reduced temporarily late last year.

Mayor Tory ends COVID-19 state of emergency
This week (May 9), Mayor John Tory announced that Toronto’s COVID-19 emergency declaration was officially lifted. While this is great news and we continue to see public health indicators decrease or hold steady, it’s still important that we remain vigilant and follow all safety precautions in place.

While active screening is no longer required for employees, it’s important that you still monitor your symptoms and stay home if you’re feeling sick, even with mild symptoms. Please continue reporting COVID-19 symptoms to your Manager or Supervisor so they can follow the contact tracing procedures in place.

Next Board meeting: Wednesday, May 18
The Board meeting on May 18 will have special significance as we recognize ACAT’s 30th anniversary. Since 1992, the Advisory Committee on Accessible Transit has provided staff with their experience and expertise on the difficulties faced by people with disabilities and seniors, always making certain we’re recognizing the diversity and mobility of our riders so that the TTC remains everyone’s system.

Commissioners will be receiving an update on the ModernTO Workplace Modernization Program among other items on the agenda.

The meeting will be live-streamed at 10 a.m., or if you’re unable to catch it as it’s happening, you can always view all meetings on the Official TTC YouTube Channel.

Please keep safe.
