Message from the Executives
FROM THE CEO: April 28 is National Day of Mourning
Today, April 28, is National Day of Mourning. On this day, the TTC has lowered its flags to pay tribute to those in our workforce and across Canada who lost their life or suffered a serious injury or illness at work.
Our most important job at the TTC is ensuring the safety of our employees, customers, and communities. On National Day of Mourning, please take a moment to honour our colleagues and their families impacted by workplace injury or death.
This day serves as a reminder to reflect on our joint commitment to safety here at the TTC. As the third largest transit system in North America, we are committed to working with our union partners to protect the safety and security of employees, customers, and communities in which we operate.
Removing barriers to safety helps to ensure that everyone returns home in the same condition that they arrived at work. I thank the hundreds of dedicated employees serving on more than 50 of our joint management/union Health and Safety Committees. These committees promote co-operation and collaboration, allowing workers and managers to participate equally in resolving health and safety matters continually.
During this time, it is important that we also check in on our mental health and wellness. The TTC offers several health and wellness and peer supports if you need them. The Employee and Family Assistance Program (EFAP) by TELUS Health provides confidential counselling services and self-guided resources for employees and family members, 24 hours a day. To get in touch with EFAP please call 1-800-572-0039 or access supports online at one.teleushealth.com.
Take care and stay safe.
