REVISED

The federal election will be held on Mon., Oct. 19, 2015. The polls for the federal election will be open from 9:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Under the Canada Elections Act, an employee who is eligible to vote is entitled, during voting hours on polling day, to have three consecutive hours for the purpose of casting his or her vote.

TTC work locations will conduct business as usual on polling day. If your duties or hours of work interfere with your ability to vote on polling day, you are encouraged to use advance polls. Advance polls will be open from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. Fri., Oct. 9, 2015 to Mon., Oct. 12, 2015.

If you are unable to take advantage of the advance polls, and your TTC duties will not allow three consecutive hours away from work to vote, you may make a written application for time off to your department head or designate. This application should be made well in advance of polling day and provide sufficient reason for the request, including your regular hours of work.

Please note that where an employee has three consecutive hours that fall within the voting period and fall outside of his or her work hours, the TTC has no obligation to provide paid time off from work.
