DHR Executive Steering Committee is calling for employees
This week, Chief People Officer Gemma Piemontese announced that the TTC is launching its first Diversity and Human Rights (DHR) Executive Steering Committee. The Committee will oversee the strategic direction, development and implementation of the TTC’s diversity, inclusion and human rights plans, policies, programs and initiatives, including developing and finalizing the TTC’s next Five-Year DHR Strategic Plan.
We’re calling for employees
The Committee will be composed of management members from across the TTC. We are also inviting non-supervisory employees (unionized and staff) to join the Committee, with lived and/or professional experience representing the views and perspectives of the many diverse groups reflected in the TTC’s workplace (gender, race/colour/ancestry/ethnicity, Indigenous Peoples, disability, LGBTQ+, age, creed/religion, language, etc.).
Employee membership will be for a two-year term, and members will be required to attend the Committee’s monthly meetings.
Employee members will be responsible for:
- Bringing their understanding, knowledge and lived experience of diversity, inclusion and human rights issues to the Committee.
- Openly consulting with the group(s) they are representing, and advocating on their behalf.
- Helping to identify, develop and implement new programs and initiatives to promote diversity, inclusion and human rights at the TTC, including proactive barrier-removal.
