Increase to Employee Benefits for Psychological Services

Effective March 1, 2018, the TTC will be increasing benefit coverage for psychological services for eligible employees and dependents.

As your employer, we care about your health and well-being and we understand that we need a strong, healthy and supported workforce to achieve our vision of a transit system that makes Toronto proud. In keeping with this commitment, the TTC has reviewed the psychology benefit under the TTC Benefit Plan and will be increasing the benefit amount for psychological services for all eligible employees and their dependents.

New employee benefit amounts for psychological services

Effective March 1, 2018, the benefit will increase from the current $200 annual maximum to $1,000 annual maximum (subject to reasonable and customary limits) per individual, for both staff and unionized employees.

Eligible providers will now include providers with accreditation level of Master of Social Work and psychotherapists, in addition to psychologists. Providers must be registered with the appropriate association or college and be in good standing with Green Shield Canada (GSC).

Submitting your benefits claim

As always, we encourage all employees to take advantage of GSC’s online plan member portal for submitting claims. Claims submissions can also be submitted using a paper form and some providers may be able to submit directly to GSC. Benefit claims for psychotherapist visits must be submitted via paper form.
