Welcome to the TTC’s Rewards and Recognition Program. The Rewards and Recognition nomination program recognizes employees who go above and beyond, and demonstrate the TTC’s core values of diversity, safety, leadership, customer service, teamwork and innovation and creativity. Since the program was introduced in 2015, hundreds of employees have been honoured. In recent years, the TTC has also honoured an Employee of the Year, chosen from among the year’s winners in all categories. Your role in nominating exceptional employees whose behaviours go above and beyond their normal duties is critical to the program’s success. This award recognizes TTC employees who model and exhibit outstanding leadership qualities and behaviours.

To qualify for this award, we are looking for employees who:- Motivate and inspire others to excel

- Give team members all of the tools, authority and trust needed to achieve their tasks

- The Leadership Award is open to peer nomination
- Must be a regular full-time or regular part-time employee
- An individual may only win an award in this category no more than once every two calendar years
- Eligibility will be reviewed against any disciplinary actions that may have taken place during the current or previous calendar year

- Nominators are advised to read the nomination form carefully, and include examples that relate specifically to the award criteria and questions asked

- The judging panel will first review all nominations independently, followed by a group discussion leading to their final selection of winners
- All judges use an identical rating scale that takes into account the award category’s criteria and nomination form questions
- Up to 10 winners will be selected semi-annually, and the very best from the year’s winners will have a chance to win a second award at the Annual Gala
Prizes
- To celebrate their achievements, semi-annual winners will be invited along with their department Head, and immediate manager, to a special awards luncheon
- Finalists for the Annual awards (and their department Head and immediate manager) will be invited to attend the Annual Gala where the winners will be announced
- All winners will be celebrated throughout the organization through post-awards internal communications

- Are proactive people, with can-do attitudes who spot, and act on, opportunities to help improve, modernize, and create value for the TTC
- Are creative problem solvers who understand not only the impact of problems and solutions on their own role and team, but also see the impacts in other parts of the organization
- Successfully navigate the TTC’s internal system to gain buy-in from a variety of levels of the organization, and work collaboratively to achieve positive results
- Consistently demonstrate a high level of resourcefulness, resilience, personal initiative to act, and the desire and ability to learn from experience
- Achieve meaningful and measurable results using existing TTC resources, and lots of ingenuity
Examples: Nominee Behaviours may have resulted in
- Internal process improvements that lead to the reduction of duplicated steps across departments or multiple handoffs/steps, improve speed of task completion, and build important trust an cross-team communication
- Redesign or new use of a tool that creates new procedural efficiencies, is easier to train to use, and improves safety
- Introduction of a new safety procedure resulting in an increase of safety awareness and compliance

- The Innovation and Creativity Award is open to both self-nomination and peer nomination
- Must be a regular full-time or regular part-time employee
- An individual may only win an award in this category no more than once every two calendar years

Recognizes one employee per year who has been recognized for outstanding achievement in one, or more, of the corporate award categories. This selection is made at the sole discretion of the CEO who will select a winner based on the significance of their achievements in support of the five programs, and the strength of the case made for the original nomination.

All employees who won an award under one of the following award programs during the annual award cycle are eligible to win this award:

- Customer Service
- Innovation and Creativity
Selection
- Winner selected by CEO
Event
- Winner will be announced at the Annual Gala, where the candidates are already present for their achievement under one of the five corporate award categories
Prizes
- TTC Award Trophy
- One extra-week of vacation to be used in that year
