A fare hike in line with the rate of inflation, approved by the TTC Board last November, took effect on Jan. 1.
The pricing change saw a five-cent increase in the price of a single Adult token and a proportionate increase to all other fares, plus a one-trip increase in the price of the Adult Metropass. Cash fares remain unchanged.
The TTC also introduced larger, newly designed Senior/Student and Child tickets in advance of the introduction of accessible streetcars with ticket validators and Presto payments rollout later this year.
