Rewards and Recognition Fall 2024


Congratulations to all the recipients of the Rewards and Recognition Fall 2024 program held on October 10.

Safety Awards Winners

Shaun Allan, Divisional Assistant Manager - Bus Transportation
Shaun enhanced safety for more than 4,000 attendees at the TTC's Family Day and Roadeo Competition. He improved communication and security measures for a successful event and fostered a culture of safety awareness through continuous improvement.

Stephen Barreca, Fare Inspection Supervisor - Revenue Protection
Stephen demonstrated exceptional leadership during a major streetcar collision, ensuring the safety of all involved. He co-ordinated with Transit Control and first responders effectively. His calm demeanor and swift actions were pivotal in crisis management.

Customer Service Award Winners

Monique Blake, Operator - Streetcar Transportation
Monique saved a customer’s life through decisive action and compassion. She built trust that led to critical medical intervention. A role model for kindness, care and assertiveness at the TTC.

Gordon Ristic, Customer Service Agent - Stations
Gordon intervened during a suicide attempt, controlling severe bleeding. His quick response was vital in saving a life until EMS arrived. He exemplifies the essential role of station employees in safety.

Innovation and Sustainability Award Winners

Cloris He, Operations Co-ordinator - Track and Structure
Yuki Shen, Business Systems Analyst - Track and Structure
Cloris and Yuki automated tasks, increasing productivity by 15 per cent and reducing manual work by 30 per cent. They improved team dynamics, leading to a 20 per cent increase in collaboration. Their support fostered a positive team culture and success.

Jason Radeska, Wiring and Service Supervisor - Signals/Electrical/Communications
Simon Chan, Senior Project Engineer - Major Projects
Johnfrank D’Addario, Project Manager - Major Projects
Jason, Simon and Johnfrank developed the "Portable Rail Trolley" for track-level maintenance. They Managed the project from design to testing, ensuring safety and compliance, and inspired teamwork and innovation in addressing operational challenges.

Leadership Award Winners

Kathy Cuschieri, Occupational Health Director - Human Resources
Kathy exceeded expectations in employee relations and well-being initiatives. She was key in modernizing Occupational Health and onboarding new staff. Kathy is appreciated for her supportive leadership and extensive operational knowledge.

Armin Javadian, Senior Project Engineer - Major Projects
Armin successfully managed teh Spadina Station project with over 40 per cent cost savings. He proactively addressed issues and set a positive example for projects. Armin is recognized for his leadership and collaborative approach.

Alan Lyons, Employee Development Specialist - Human Resources
Alan led Leadership Advantage training for more than 150 participants annually. He adapted content and facilitated discussions for effective learning and is committed to continuous improvement and collaborative environments.

Terrence Medford, Operator - Bus Transportation
Terrence exemplifies outstanding leadership as Head of Malvern Recreation, fostering community through major events and retiree celebrations. He is dedicated to cultural celebrations and mentoring colleagues. Terrence inspires a positive atmosphere and strong team morale through his commitment.

Liz Trombino, Construction Co-ordinator - Construction
Liz exemplifies enhanced performance and job satisfaction through effective training. She mentored colleagues, driving personal growth and productivity, and fostered teamwork and clarity, motivating others to excel.

Diversity Award Winners

Kyron Lewis, Operator - Bus Transportation
Kyron led initiatives for diversity, including Black History Month and Indigenous Month. He fosters a culture of awareness and celebration within the organization as well as inspired others, significantly enhancing the commitment to diversity.

Teamwork Award Winners

TTC & ATU Local 113 Collective Bargaining Agreement

The team successfully negotiated a contract that prevented a major labor disruption for the TTC. They dedicated countless hours to finalize the agreement over nearly five months of daily meetings. This contract is the first mutually agreed-upon collective bargaining agreement in over a decade, showcasing their commitment and collaboration.
