Transformational Review


As I stated in October’s CEO Report, the TTC will launch a Transformation Review in the coming weeks. As part of the 2018-22 Corporate Plan, we made a commitment to address the growing gap between our revenues, our ever-increasing needs and costs.

The review will look at how our internal structures and processes are set up. This is more than looking at how to reorganize. Instead, it will look for ways to become an organization that provides affordable, reliable, efficient and integrated services across the city today and into the future. In other words, this is more than just boxes on an org chart.

Administrative processes, investments in technology, non-fare revenue, our potential for expanding shared services and pooling of resources, as well as reviewing our buying power with our partners, will all be reviewed.

This review, I want to stress, is separate and apart from the provincial government’s announcement to undertake a year-long review on the uploading of the subway. When more information on that process becomes available, I will share it with you.

In the next few weeks, we will begin to scope out a process and identify the resources necessary to undertake the Transformational Review. An interim report will be completed by mid-2019 and will outline a process, progress to date, and any requirements for public consultation.

You’ll recall that we recently realigned the functions within the Service Delivery and Operations Groups to ensure we run a smooth and efficient service each day. Likewise, we recently centralized Safety and Environment to ensure the entire organization was supported by safety experts.

The TTC is a complex organization, which makes it important for us to regularly review how we are delivering service for our customers that is the best it can be.

I am committed to keeping you informed on the steps involved in this review and will share more information as the process comes together.
