Mandatory vaccination policy

Mandatory vaccination policy

Earlier this week, we released our new mandatory vaccination policy. Getting vaccinated remains one of the most important ways we can protect each other and our community. That is why we have made COVID-19 vaccines mandatory for all TTC employees, contractors and students by October 30, 2021.

As I said when I announced this initiative a few weeks ago, this is a necessary measure to protect the health of our employees. From the start of the pandemic, the TTC has been a leader in safety to help stop the spread of COVID-19, and we will continue to do everything we can to keep our community safe.

The next step for employees is to submit their proof of vaccination by September 20 via the new COVID-19 Vaccination Portal. You can access the Portal by clicking on your employee profile on myttc.ttc.ca. You can find step-by-step guidance on how to submit your proof of vaccination as well as key dates relating to this policy in this week’s MyTTC | Weekly issue.

This policy is the right thing to do for everyone and is an important step for us as we work together to bring this pandemic to an end. We will continue to work with employees and our union partners to address and resolve any questions and concerns.

Students heading back to class

I know that students have returned to class this week, and for many parents safety is top-of-mind. Along with the many things we are doing to keep everyone safe on the TTC, I wanted to take a moment to remind everyone to take extra care on the roads during the next few weeks – whether you are an operator or a general road user. Here are some reminders that may be helpful this back-to-school season:

> Stay focused on your surroundings.

> Be mindful of pedestrians and cyclists.

> Always operate to road and weather conditions.

> Check your mirrors and blind spots.

> Stop and yield the whole roadway at pedestrian crossovers and school crossings.

> Always drive slowly and cautiously around schools.

Board meeting

On Wednesday, September 15, the TTC Board will hold its next Board meeting. The meeting will begin online at 10 a.m. and be streamed live on the official TTC YouTube channel.

Anniversary of 9/11

I wanted to take a minute to acknowledge the 20th anniversary of 9/11 this week, as we solemnly remember the 3,000 people, including 24 Canadians, who were killed in the attack. I know this event was has changed the lives of many people all over the world, and we are continuing to deal with the aftermath to this day.

Thank you for all your hard work. Stay safe and stay vigilant.
