Message from the Executives
Office of the Chief Executive
December 17 is Transit Worker Assault Awareness Day. The day was first declared by Mayor John Tory in 2021 and brings attention to the abuse and assault transit workers, including TTC employees, face every day on the job.
I want to underscore, your safety and the safety of our customers remains a top priority. This past year, the TTC has taken numerous steps to help support our frontline workers and bring awareness to the challenges that our employees often face. Some of these initiatives include introducing a customer-facing campaign focused on respecting TTC employees, and delivering a comprehensive one-day training program focusing on de-escalation strategies, communication skills, customer service and more.
We know that there is still work to be done and we are continuously looking at solutions to better support you. Remember, the TTC takes all instances of physical abuse, harassment and threats seriously.
Every day we see you show tremendous dedication and skill to keep Toronto moving – and you deserve to feel safe while doing so.
Rewards and Recognition award winners
The Executive Team and I was proud to recognize the recipients of the Rewards and Recognition awards at a virtual ceremony held virtually earlier this week. Numerous employees in various vocations from across the organization were recognized for exceptional achievements in the areas of customer service, safety, innovation and creativity, leadership, teamwork and diversity.
The Rewards and Recognition program reminds us that the TTC’s greatest asset is its people – and they’re making outstanding contributions to the TTC’s success every day of the year. Congratulations to all our winners!
Please take the time to nominate colleagues who have done exceptional work; the online nomination form is on rewards.ttc.ca. All employees can participate in the nomination process, and all are eligible to win.
