Message from the Executives

Office of the Chief Executive

Today at 11 a.m. the TTC paused all service for two minutes to honour Canada’s fallen and to honour those who continue to serve our country. I urge all employees to take a personal moment of reflection in memory of those that served and made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.

Through the month of November, the TTC will once again be supporting Soup Mountain. Members of our Recreation Council are helping to build a mountain of soup cans for the Veterans Association Food Bank. We know many of our employees have served in the armed forces and support the Veterans Association Food Bank – an organization focused on helping create a support base for veterans. There is information below on how you can participate.

Happy retirement, Barry!
Congratulations to Wilson-Bus Operator Barry Allen on his retirement after more than 50 years of service with the TTC.

Barry started as a Subway Operator at Danforth Division in 1972. In 1976, he arrived at Wilson Bus Division when it first opened and has called it home ever since.

After five decades behind the wheel, Barry has carried millions of customers, and played no small part in helping the TTC reach the 33 billionth rider milestone last month.

I'm proud to say on behalf of everyone at the TTC that we’re all extremely grateful for Barry’s work, and for his wife Lorraine’s support. Happy retirement and congratulations on a remarkable career.

Pensioners’ Receptions
This week, we held the first of three Pensioners’ Receptions that will be taking place in November. The annual gatherings that celebrate our longest-serving employees were put on hold during the pandemic.

Over the coming weeks, the TTC will be thanking hundreds of our recent pensioners for their dedication and commitment to the TTC and to the citizens of Toronto.

The TTC’s greatest asset is its people. Those familiar faces we salute this month are indicative of the depth and breadth of our workforce. Day in and day out, they’ve kept Toronto moving.
