TTC recognizes Disability Employment Awareness Month

This month, the TTC will be recognizing Disability Employment Awareness Month. As we have in the past, we will be partnering with Dolphin Disabilities to support their Mentoring Day on October 26. We’re inviting employees to volunteer as mentors in this unique opportunity that allows mentees to shadow working professionals. This shadowing experience allows mentees to gain insight from mentors, build partnerships and get advice on applying for positions at the TTC.

There is information below on how you can volunteer to be a mentor. This is one more way the TTC is looking to increase inclusion within our organization.

On October 19, the TTC will be hosting a virtual information session for women interested in becoming transit Operators. We want our workforce to reflect the customers and communities we serve. We have held several of these sessions over the past two years and this type of targeted information session is one way we’re reaching out to women looking for rewarding career opportunities.

The session will allow participants to hear directly from women working across the organization. Topics that will be covered include: the recruitment process, work/life balance, such as balancing family, career growth opportunities, and information on our compensation and benefits.

The TTC is proud to support women in the workforce. If you have friends or family that are interested in finding out more about working at the TTC, I would encourage you to share the information.

And lastly, this Sunday (October 16), Family Day will be held at Mount Dennis Division. This is the first Family Day we’ve had in almost three years and it promises to be a lot of fun. There will be rides, a BBQ and so much more. I’m looking forward to seeing you there.

Stay safe.
