Message from the Executives

Office of the Chief Executive

Today, we are proud to recognize International Women’s Day (IWD) at the TTC. It is an important moment to acknowledge all the people who identify as women working in our organization. As the day comes to an end, I hope you saw the video and had a chance to celebrate some of your talented colleagues here at the TTC.

The theme for this year’s campaign is Embrace Equity and it focuses on explaining why equal opportunities are not always enough. Here at the TTC, we continue to work to eliminate the gender gap experienced in the transit industry and we are hiring more women into traditionally male-dominated roles throughout the organization.

For a second year, we have achieved our goal of having four out of every 10 Operators hired being women, as set out in the 10-Point Action Plan on Diversity and Inclusion. This is an important accomplishment and something we will do again this year.

Recognizing IWD is also an important reminder that there is still more work to be done. Along with hiring more women, it is important that they feel empowered and encouraged to pursue their career goals here at the TTC. We continue to develop programs and update our policies to make sure that this is the case.

So today, I want to wish everyone a happy International Women’s Day and I look forward to continuing to work with you all toward a more equitable and inclusive TTC.

Stay safe.
