Message from the Executives
Office of the Chief Executive
This week, I attended an announcement at Davisville Station with Deputy Mayor Jennifer McKelvie. Together, we announced that through LOFT (Leap of Faith Together) Community Services and the City’s Multi-Disciplinary Outreach Team (MDOT) program, individuals in the transit system requiring more complex and longer-term supports will have access to case workers and health- care professionals, including registered nurses.
Through the City of Toronto’s budget process, an additional $500,000 was put forward in support of a one-year pilot for expanding MDOT teams across the TTC. We know the issues faced by people experiencing homelessness are complex and access to the services provided by LOFT are an important step in helping them in the right direction.
Nominate someone for going above and beyond
The Rewards and Recognition program has begun accepting nominations for the next awards ceremony scheduled for this summer. Nominations are open until Friday, April 14.
The awards recognize colleagues and co-workers for outstanding achievements for Customer Service, Safety, Leadership, Teamwork, Diversity and Innovation and Creativity. All employees can participate in the nomination process, and all employees are eligible to win. The TTC has many great people with the right stuff so please don’t hesitate to nominate.
Nomination and eligibility criteria are all available at rewards.ttc.ca.
Celebrating Transit Operator and Worker Appreciation Day
Today, the TTC is hosting employee appreciation events at numerous work locations in a wind-up of Transit Operator and Worker Appreciation Day to show our gratitude to the hard-working people that move our city forward every day and night. I hope you will all have an opportunity to drop by an event near you.
Video message from Deputy
Mayor Jennifer McKelvie on Transit Operator and Worker Appreciation Day
TTC employees are an integral part of daily life in Toronto and residents and riders alike have expressed their thanks and admiration through their recognition of Transit Operator and Worker Appreciation Day. I hope that reading their kind words this past week has been an inspiration to you as much as it has been for me. In particular, I want to send out a special thanks to the students at St. Cyril Elementary School for their colourful and heart-warming drawings sent in to the TTC.
Please stay safe and thank you again for all you do.
