Message from the Executives
Office of the Chief Executive
This Saturday (May 27), the TTC is proud to invite visitors behind the scenes as part of Doors Open Toronto. The TTC will be opening up McCowan Carhouse and Danforth Garage. We hope that you will also take the opportunity to join us and explore Toronto’s transit history.
McCowan Carhouse will feature Scarborough Rapid Transit (SRT) train maintenance operations, with an SRT car, wheels, axles and snow-removal vehicles on display. It’s the last chance to look behind the scenes before Line 3 Scarborough is decommissioned later this year.
At Danforth Garage, we will have multiples vehicles on display including our first streetcars to some of our newest eBuses. Danforth Garage will showcase over 100 years of history as the building began servicing streetcars for Toronto Civic Railways in 1915, until 1921 when the TTC took over operations. When the Bloor-Danforth Subway opened in 1966, the facility became an all-bus garage, and it served in that capacity until 2002.
Both locations will have a BBQ lunch and a lot of fun for the whole family. A big thank you to all the TTC employees for making these events happen.
Spadina Station takeover with Toronto Animal Services and Pet Valu
This month the TTC launched a joint campaign with Toronto Animal Services and Pet Valu to promote the benefits of pet adoption at Spadina Station. Until June 15, images of cats, dogs, guinea pigs and rabbits are featured throughout the station on digital billboards, vinyl wraps and platform murals. Pets for adoption are also being featured at instagram.com/takethettc.
If you are interested in adopting a pet from Toronto Animal Services, you can call 416-338-PAWS (7297) to schedule an appointment for a meet and greet.
We are proud to be a part of this impactful campaign and we are pleased with the public response so far.
Take care and stay safe.
