Message from the Executives

Office of the Chief Executive

Planning is underway to participate in the annual underground freedom train ride to celebrate Emancipation Day on August 1. This special event, which marks the role of the Underground Railroad in Canadian history, will once again be held on Line 1 Yonge-University on July 31, starting at about 10:30 p.m.

The symbolic midnight ride is hosted by the Blackhurst Cultural Centre and ushers in Emancipation Day on August 1. Activities celebrating the public event include singing, poetry readings, and drum playing.

Recognizing Emancipation Day and Emancipation Month reminds us of how important it is to address anti-Black racism and to wipe out discrimination in all its forms, once and for all – a commitment we’ve made clear in our new Anti-Racism Strategy. We are making progress, but we have much work to do.

MyTTC | Time launches on July 29
Next week, we will be launching MyTTC | Time, our new time and attendance solution for non-union employees (except those in EC&E). Please note that this will launch on July 29, one day later than the previously advertised date of July 28. Thank you to everyone who has played a role in the launch of this new and modern system.
