Message from the Executives
FROM THE DEPUTY CEO: ATU Local 113 Bargaining Update
Teams from the TTC and ATU Local 113 remain at the bargaining table today as the deadline for a labour disruption approaches (12:01 a.m. Friday, June 7). We remain optimistic that with talks progressing, we can reach a fair deal that avoids service interruptions.
However, in the event a labour disruption does occur, this email contains some key information to help you prepare and minimize impacts to your work routines.
Service impacts
In the event of a labour disruption, TTC service will end by 3 a.m. on Friday, June 7. If customers are travelling after midnight, we’ve encouraged them to make alternative travel plans.
A previous agreement also ensures that all Wheel-Trans services will continue uninterrupted in the event of job action, including contracted Accessible Taxis and Sedan Taxis.
Working at TTC offices during a labour disruption
If there is a labour disruption and service is suspended, travelling to and from the office will be challenging across the city. Please speak with your manager to determine if working from home is an option, given your role/responsibilities. If you are required to work from a TTC location, please plan for delays and limited parking availability.
Employees are also encouraged to carpool if possible, have a friend or family member drop them off at their work location, rent a bike through Toronto Bike Share, and/or take an Uber or other transit ride service if necessary.
Reimbursement of travel expenses will be considered in exceptional cases where staff transportation support is not available or staff safety is at risk. In these cases, staff may take a taxi or rideshare to connect to their first mode of transportation or home. An Employee Expense Form will need to be completed to claim the expense and receive reimbursement.
Picketing at TTC locations
As with most labour disruptions, we expect ATU Local 113 members will picket at a number of TTC locations. If you are required to go into a TTC location with picketing, please be patient and expect delays while entering/exiting. Attached you’ll find Guidelines for Crossing Picket Lines with more details.
Again, we remain optimistic that a fair, negotiated agreement will be reached without the need for job action. The above information is being shared only to help you prepare in the event a labour disruption.
We remain committed to keeping everyone updated on negotiations as they progress. Real-time updates will be posted at www.ttc.ca/bargaining as well as on our social media channels: @TTCNotices and @TTCHelps on X (Twitter), Facebook and Instagram (@taketheTTC).
