Message from the Executives
Office of the Chief Executive
I am proud to share the TTC’s first system-wide Anti-Racism Strategy – a critical step forward on our path to address systemic racism and build an inclusive transit system. You can view the Strategy at www.ttc.ca/drivingchange. The Anti-Racism Strategy was approved by the Board at last week’s meeting.
Since introducing TTC’s 10-Point Action Plan on Diversity and Inclusion in 2020, we have made great progress to create a TTC that is more welcoming and inclusive for our customers and employees. However, there is still work to do to ensure everyone who works at or rides the TTC can do so without fear of racist, discriminatory or hateful acts.
The Strategy aims to eradicate systemic barriers faced by customers, prospective customers, and the broader community that stem from racism and racial discrimination. It also aims to prevent racial bias and racial profiling, and enhance the TTC’s system-wide anti-racism approach.
TTC Red Rockets reach cricket finals
I want to congratulate the TTC Red Rockets cricket team for a great showing at the Mayor’s Cup tournament last weekend. Thank you to all our players this year: Mohsin Patel (Manager), Mohammed Shaikh (Captain), Jabbar Chaudrey (Vice Captain), Adil Pathan, Amjadkhan Pathan, Azhar Mohamed Bashirdeen, Fazeel Sadique, Jitender Kumar, Sathyananthan, Ken Calliste, Mohammad Muzmmal, Robinhensman Robinet, Ranjoban Sandhu, Robart Francis, Shaiful Islam, Sukhjinder Cheema and Ujagar Singh Sohi.
Family Day and Bus Roadeo
Last Sunday’s Family Day festivities and Bus Roadeo competition at Arrow Road attracted close to 4,000 employees and families. A big congratulations to our Grand Champions and all our finalists who participated in the Bus Roadeo. I also want to extend my thanks to all those who helped support both events – there is a lot of work that goes into making events like this a great success and the hard work did not go unnoticed.
Finally, a very big thank you to everyone who participated in Indigenous Peoples Month and Pride initiatives in June. Today, we held the last of three sunrise ceremonies for the month – this time at McNicoll Division. Before the month wraps up, there is still a chance to participate in Toronto’s Pride Parade this Sunday and march with your fellow employees. Looking forward to seeing you there.
Stay safe.
