Message from the Executives

Office of the Chief Executive

As I shared early this morning, I am extremely pleased that we’ve been able to reach a tentative framework settlement with ATU Local 113, and avoid any job action and service disruptions.

This is a fair deal that is affordable for the TTC and respectful of the important work the 11,500 members of ATU Local 113 do every day to keep our system safe and our service reliable. We’ll share more details once the settlement has been ratified by the Union membership and approved by TTC Board.

I want to thank the TTC Board for its guidance and leadership, as well as members of both bargaining teams for their hard work to reach this framework settlement without any negative impact on TTC customers. I’d also like to thank all TTC employees for their dedication, hard work and patience as we worked diligently to reach a fair, negotiated agreement.

Bay Lower opened its doors to thousands
At the TTC’s Doors Open event last Saturday, Bay Lower saw 6,700 visitors of all ages explore and take pictures of our abandoned station. While Bay Lower continues to capture the interest of people, it plays a crucial role in day-to-day operations. The abandoned station is used for moving maintenance vehicles, as a training facility, and as a testing ground for new station designs and finishes before they are introduced in the subway system.

Doors Open provides a great opportunity to delve into Toronto’s rich transit history. Thank you to everyone who helped make this event possible.

Recognizing TTC’s long-serving employees
I also want to extend a sincere thank you to everyone who attended the Long Service Reception last week to celebrate employees who reached their 25th anniversary with the TTC. A quarter-century of service is a testament to the loyalty and dedication of our workforce, which is why the TTC’s greatest asset is its people. Thank you all again for your 25 years of exceptional work.

Stay safe.
