Message from the Executives
Office of the Chief Executive
I’d like to start by acknowledging that this week we present a special MyTTC | Weekly in honour of the 200th edition. The TTC has overcome a lot over the last 200 issues, including a pandemic, but we’ve also had much to celebrate – countless employee-led events, spotlights, and recognition initiatives, to name a few. This week, check out the latest TTC news as always and then take a trip down memory lane in the special section featuring highlights of the recent past.
CUTA Conference concludes
On Wednesday, we wrapped up the CUTA Annual Conference and Transit Show in Toronto. I want to thank all our subject matter experts who represented the TTC at several speaking engagements held during the conference. A special thanks to everyone at numerous work locations who hosted delegates and officials on a tour of our facilities. We could not host a successful event without the participation and support of our volunteers and planning team. I hope everyone has gained some valuable insights this week. Thank you all once again.
I also want to send congratulations to our 2024 CUTA Award Winners. First to Scott Haskill, retired Chief Strategy and Customer Experience Officer, and the family of the late Ted Wickson, longtime TTC Archivist and transit historian. Both gentlemen won the William G. Ross Lifetime Achievement Award and will be inducted into the CUTA Hall of Fame. Second to Transit Planner Patrick Yutiga who received the Young Leaders Award for his work to advance CUTA’s goal of attracting and retaining young professionals to the industry.
Taylor Swift concerts continue
Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour continued with its final three shows this week. Our service plan for the first three shows went off smoothly despite the extra ridership onboard. We anticipate concert goers will be singing, dancing and sparkling to and from the remaining shows once again.
My thanks again to everyone for all the extra efforts in helping our customers and visitors enjoy a once-in-a-lifetime concert extravaganza.
Also, this weekend, if you are taking in the Toronto Santa Claus Parade on Sunday, extra train service will make everyone’s trip much quicker to see you know who. Have fun!
