Message from the Executives
Office of the Chief Executive
Today is an exciting day at the TTC. This afternoon, at Greenwood Yard, the Federal government officially announced the TTC’s funding allotment of roughly $116 million annually, or $1.16 billion over 10 years starting in 2026, a key milestone on our critical path to advance Line 2 modernization. This funding, along with funding from the Province and City, will help to cover the cost of 55 new Line 2 trains.
Upcoming Board meeting
The last regular TTC Board Meeting of the year will take place at City Hall this upcoming Tuesday. Staff reports before the Board will include the 2024-2028 Accessibility Plan and Wheel-Trans Transformation Program, Collective Agreement Ratification between the TTC and ATU Local 113 (Customer Service Centre), and the Full Roll-out of Body-Worn Cameras for Special Constables and Fare Inspectors.
The meeting will be live-streamed on the Official TTC YouTube Channel starting at 10 a.m.
Prepared for winter
With our first winter snow in the forecast, the TTC has been preparing for the winter season by ensuring inventory and equipment are replenished and ready for the colder weather. We use the off-season to enhance training and modify our plans for severe weather operations. All key departments have gone through their inclement weather checklist and are ready to take on what lies ahead.
Holiday season drives underway
While we have another week left to raise donations for United Way Greater Toronto, employees can give in other ways as the holiday season approaches.
The Recreation Council is spearheading the annual Stuff-the-Bus toy drive. TTC buses will be parked at participating stores over the next few weekends to accept new, unwrapped toy donations. The gifts will be distributed to SickKids Hospital and several community organizations. The first stop for Stuff-the-Bus is this weekend at Walmart at 165 North Queen St. in Etobicoke.
Also, the Special Constable Service is conducting a coat drive. A donation box is set up at Head Office. Donations will be accepted until December 19.
Thank you for giving what you can and demonstrating the incredible caring nature of the TTC this holiday season.
