Message from the Executives

Office of the Chief Executive

Yesterday, the TTC collaborated on a very important campaign with Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) Toronto. Along with Toronto Police, Fire Services, Paramedic Services and the OPP, MADD launched its annual Project Red Ribbon Campaign at Wilson Garage. We are honoured to once again support MADD and the victims’ families present for this crucial effort.

The photos unveiled in the bus ads campaign serve as reminders of families who will spend the holidays missing a loved one lost to impaired driving. At the event, I expressed our sympathies to the family members and thanked them for bravely sharing their stories.

We all know about the dangers of impaired driving. Public transit plays an important prevention role. With the holiday season quickly approaching, now is the time to remind everyone: if you’re drinking, or impaired in any way, you should not be driving. There are many safe alternatives available, including taking the TTC.

Lest We Forget
On Monday, Remembrance Day, it will be my honour to lay a wreath on behalf of all TTC employees at the Cenotaph in front of Old City Hall. The TTC Honour Guard will also take part in the official Remembrance Day Ceremonies.

At 11 a.m. on November 11, all TTC vehicles will stop and stay for two minutes to remember those who served and paid the ultimate price for our freedom. All current members of the Canadian Armed Forces in uniform, war and peacekeeping veterans, and one companion, ride free of charge.

Participate, donate for United Way
Congratulations to the Crosstown Crushers, Barb Battistuzzi, Addie Blohm, Seth Irvine and Rob Moffat, the winners of last night’s United Way trivia event. The spirited competition was held in support of our United Way campaign. Whether through fun events like this or through payroll deduction, please give what you can – and have fun. Our fundraising campaign runs until December 6.
