Message from the Executives
Office of the Chief Executive
During my first month on the job, I’ve met incredible people who care deeply about what they do. I look forward to finding new ways to build a stronger sense of pride and swagger about being a TTC employee, because we have much to be proud of. We work at the third largest agency in North America, and every day we can make customers’ lives better as they move around our great city.
This week, I shared a message for employees in the Toronto Sun for my plans to bring back the swagger and pride at the TTC. I encourage you all to have a read and join me on this journey.
Progress made on making our stations accessible
The number of accessible stations in the subway system continues to rise.
On Wednesday, we celebrated Donlands Station accessibility with an official ribbon-cutting ceremony. Joining us at the opening of our 55th accessible station were Toronto-Danforth MP Julie Dabrusin, TTC Chair Jamaal Myers, Toronto-Danforth Councillor Paula Fletcher, and ACAT Co-Vice-Chair Betty Rivington-Law.
We thanked our community partners, our construction partners, and the many TTC departments that worked extensively and collaboratively to make this important milestone happen.
Earlier this month, we launched two elevators into service at Glencairn Station on Line 1. Glencairn also received upgrades to its signage, security cameras and entrance lighting. And earlier this week, we turned on elevators at Castle Frank Station. Work is underway to install new sliding doors by year-end, with temporary measures implemented in the meantime to provide full accessibility in advance of sliding door completion.
Talk TTC event at Kennedy Station
The TTC invites our customers to the first Talk TTC event at Kennedy Station on Tuesday, October 22, from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. Talk TTC provides an opportunity for customers to meet face-to-face with members of the Executive Team and subject matter experts from across the company and share their feedback about their experiences on the system. Future dates and locations will be posted on ttc.ca.
