Last week, we kicked off our fall United Way campaign alongside our union partners. Every year, the TTC comes together to raise money for United Way Greater Toronto, to help those in need in the Greater Toronto Area.

In 2023, we raised over $678,000 through fundraising and donations, and for 2024, we’ve set a goal of $700,000.

Together, we can make a significant contribution to our community and be a force for positive change. I encourage you to help us on this mission, and to be a changemaker this year.

Support this year’s fundraising events
​There are many United Way events coming up this fall, offering many opportunities to get involved.

In particular, we have an Open House at Hillcrest coming up on September 28, as well as Halloween Fest on October 26 and 27. There’s more to come, so stay tuned to the MyTTC | Weekly newsletter and the United Way campaign’s MyTTC | WorkZone page.

Donate to the United Way Greater Toronto
I ​also encourage you to donate what you can using the online pledge form before December 6. The online form includes options for both one-time donations and payroll deductions. United Way provides a tax receipt for donations over $25; those who make a payroll donation will have the donation included on their T4.

About the cause
​United Way Greater Toronto builds and strengthens a network of agencies across the GTA to fight local poverty and support communities. They focus their work on areas like inclusive employment, food security and housing. You can learn more about their work on their website.

We at the TTC are keenly aware of our community’s challenges. We are a core part of the city, and we see its needs up close. My hope for this year’s campaign is that we, together, reflect on the future we would like to see. I challenge all of us to be changemakers and help move the city toward a brighter future for all.
