Message from the Executives
Office of the Chief Executive
It was my pleasure to join TTC Chair Jamaal Myers on a tour of Finch, Kennedy and Scarborough Centre earlier this week to see the progress being made to revitalize these busy transit hubs.
These stations are part of the TTC’s Six Station Cleanliness Pilot, which also includes Dundas, Spadina, and Lansdowne – stations I visited on earlier travels.
This initiative aims to improve the customer experience by transforming spaces into brighter, more welcoming places, and the success of this work is the result of the outstanding teamwork of so many people across the organization. From our trades and maintenance teams in Signals, Electrical and Communications, Stations, Plant Maintenance, and Track and Structures, to our Painters, Landscapers, Janitors, Forepersons, heavy-duty cleaning crews, and more than 70 summer students – each of them has played a vital role in making these transformations possible.
The stations and bus terminal are expected to be finished in Q2 2026, with major scopes of work – including floors, walls, ceilings, washrooms, signage – substantially done by Q4 2025.
The Warriors’ Day Parade, taking place Saturday, August 16, in Toronto, is as old as the TTC itself – both were established in 1921. The parade honours those who have served and made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.
On Warriors’ Day, the TTC is proud to provide free transit for Canadian military personnel and veterans. This includes all current members of the Armed Forces in uniform, as well as war and peacekeeping veterans wearing military service medals or ribbons. One companion may also travel free.
Representing TTC employees in the parade will be the TTC Supervisory Honour Guard, marching in respect for the service and sacrifice of Canada’s military. The Honour Guard has proudly carried the TTC’s colours for more than three decades. This year’s parade commemorates the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War and the Liberation of the Netherlands.
Finally, I extend my sincere thanks to everyone who supported athletes and coaches at the Special Olympics Ontario at York University last Saturday. Your dedication – whether providing cooling bus, travel information, or a friendly presence – was greatly appreciated, as always.
With gratitude and resolve,
Mandeep S. Lali
