Message from the Executives
Office of the Chief Executive
This Sunday, we celebrate a milestone that will be remembered for years to come with the official opening of Line 6 Finch West. This achievement is a testament to our organization’s capabilities and to the dedication, expertise, and teamwork of the many TTC employees and partners who contributed to making Line 6 Finch West a reality. Your hard work has helped shape a new chapter in Toronto’s transit history, and I am deeply grateful for your commitment.
Line 6 Finch West is a transformative addition to our city’s transit network. By connecting communities along the northwest corridor, we are providing thousands of residents with faster, more reliable access to jobs, education, healthcare, and recreation. Line 6 is designed to meet the needs of a growing city, and it will play a vital role in supporting Toronto’s continued development.
From a transportation planning perspective, Line 6 is a strategic investment in urban mobility. By offering a high-capacity, rapid transit alternative along Finch Avenue West, we are helping to alleviate congestion on some of Toronto’s busiest arterial roads. We know that when high-quality transit options are available, more people choose to leave their cars at home, reducing traffic volumes and improving travel times for everyone. This shift not only benefits our customers, but also contributes to safer streets and a more efficient transportation system.
The environmental benefits of Line 6 are equally significant. Public transit is one of the most effective tools cities have to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve air quality. Every trip taken on Line 6 instead of a private vehicle means fewer emissions, less noise, and a healthier urban environment. By expanding our network and making transit more accessible, we are supporting Toronto’s climate goals and helping to build a more sustainable future.
None of this would be possible without you. Whether you contributed to planning, training, operations, engineering, communications, or customer service, your efforts have made this historic moment a reality. You are part of a team that is shaping the city’s ecosystem and making a lasting impact on the lives of Torontonians.
As we gather with customers, Mayor Olivia Chow, and TTC leadership to mark this occasion, I hope you feel proud of what we have accomplished together. Thank you for your dedication, your professionalism, and your unwavering commitment to our mission.
