Message from the Executives
Office of the Chief Executive
I’m pleased to share that earlier this week, Toronto City Council approved the TTC budgets.
Thank you to Mayor Chow, City Council, and the Commissioners for supporting significant investments in our operations and long-term projects. Expanding ridership depends on a transit system that is safe, reliable, and affordable — these budgets help us achieve that goal.
The budgets preserve and build on last year’s service increases, including major investments for essential state-of-good-repair work. TTC fares remain frozen, and service hours now match pre-pandemic levels.
This is great news and a positive way to start the Family Day long weekend. I hope everyone enjoys extra time with loved ones. For those working on the holiday Monday, thank you for your service to our customers.
In the face of severe weather
Toronto has experienced significant snowfalls this past week, with more on the way. The snowstorm had quite an impact on the city Wednesday night, which we were still recovering from yesterday. The TTC has worked tirelessly to maintain safe travel in extreme conditions and prepare for what lies ahead this long weekend. This effort requires exceptional co-ordination and teamwork. Great job by everyone involved.
Happy Valentine’s Day!
Today, the TTC debuts Between Stations, a new four-episode video series on the TTC’s Instagram page (@TakeTheTTC). This series follows a group of young adults as they meet each other while riding the better way, exploring connections, love and friendship. The series runs until April — follow along, like, share and comment!
Finally, remember that no job is so important that it cannot be done safely. Please take extra care, especially in slippery conditions.
