Message from the Executives
Office of the Chief Executive
Happy New Year! I hope everyone had a great holiday season. I want to extend my gratitude to all TTC employees and customers as we look ahead to the opportunities and challenges of 2025.
This week, the TTC Board approved our 2025 Operating, Capital, and Wheel-Trans budgets at City Hall.
TTC fares will remain at the 2023 rates for the second consecutive year, while service hours will increase by 5.8 per cent to support growth, improve reliability and accommodate the launch of Lines 5 and 6. The TTC expects to carry 439.4 million revenue rides in 2025.
The Wheel-Trans Budget delivers increased service for an estimated four million rides in 2025 to address a 12-per-cent increase in new registrants.
The 2025-2034 Capital Budget and Plan includes the largest funding increase for crucial state-of-good-repair work since 2020. Commissioners also endorsed the TTC’s 2025-2039 Capital Investment Plan of $53.38 billion, and the 2025-2039 Real Estate Investment Plan Update.
This year alone, the Operating and Capital Budgets are estimated to generate $6.1 billion in economic activity and over 32,000 jobs across Canada. The official 2025 Operating Budget and 2025-2034 Capital Budget and Plan will go before City Council next month.
We also welcomed new Commissioners, Deputy Mayor Ausma Malik and Councillor Alejandra Bravo, who replaced Councillors Stephen Holyday and Chris Moise.
TTC exceeds its United Way goal
This week, we were delighted to welcome TTC Chair Jamaal Myers to Head Office to help us unveil a cheque for $803,384 to United Way Greater Toronto. This exceeded our goal by 15 per cent and was an increase of 18 per cent from last year’s total.
This incredible achievement reflects the dedication and generosity of our employees, pensioners and volunteers. It was heartening to see our entire organization come together, demonstrating how deeply TTC employees care about the communities we serve.
Special thanks to campaign co-chairs Kathy Wyeth and Angie Clark for their inspiring leadership. Your collective efforts have strengthened connections within our commission and supported increasing access to critical community services in food, housing, and mental health care.
Thank you for making a meaningful difference in the lives of so many.
