Message from the Executives
Office of the Chief Executive
As I prepare to hand the reins to our incoming CEO, Mandeep Lali, on July 7, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude for your dedication to keeping Toronto moving. Every day, I’ve led this organization with a love for the job, for the TTC team, and hopefully some laughter. It’s been an honour and privilege to serve alongside you.
You are the backbone of the service that millions of people rely on to get where they need to go, safely and reliably. Your commitment to excellence ensures that our city can depend on us, and for that, I am profoundly grateful.
I’m proud of the strides we’ve made to empower our leaders to act with urgency and accountability, especially to enhance service reliability. Our bunching and gapping pilot, alongside plans for more expansive state-of-good-repair closures, has laid a strong foundation to tackle restricted speed zones and deliver the dependable transit our city deserves.
We shone brightly when the world’s eyes were on us, delivering exceptional service during the six-concert Taylor Swift Eras Tour, followed by a seamless New Year’s Eve celebration. Through the severe February/March winter storms, your resilience kept Toronto moving. And together, we secured the largest funding increase from the City of Toronto in a decade, fueling our momentum for a stronger TTC.
We’ve also built stronger, more collaborative relationships with our union partners, fostering a shared commitment to our mission. Listening to your voices, we’ve taken meaningful steps to improve the employee experience for everyone, including our essential Special Constables and Fare Inspectors, ensuring they know their service is valued, supported and respected. We made overdue changes, with more to come.
Thank you for your unwavering support, hard work, and smiles. I am hopeful that under Mandeep's leadership, the TTC will continue to thrive and reach new performance and morale heights.
Stay safe.
