Message from the Executives
Office of the Chief Executive
You may have seen news reports earlier this week of Metrolinx’s handover of Line 5 Eglinton to the TTC. To clarify: the TTC, Metrolinx, and Crosslinx continue to work together to get Line 5 ready for revenue service. More phases and milestones must be safely completed before the TTC takes over operations.
Handover only occurs after substantial completion is achieved. This requires certification by the Project’s Independent Certifier that Crosslinx has successfully delivered the project in accordance with the Project Agreement.
The good news is that this week, train operations were transferred into our Transit Control Centre from a temporary control centre — another step forward as testing, training, and construction continues.
The Province will announce an opening date once we are confident the line is ready for safe and reliable operations.

Stay safe in the heat
Finally, with the hot temperatures already here and expected to continue in the days ahead, please be mindful of the possibility of heat stress or heat stroke, whether at work or play. Drink water regularly, wear light, loose-fitting clothing, and apply SPF 30+ sunscreen. Take care of yourself and those around you.
