Yesterday, Mayor Olivia Chow and TTC Chair Jamaal Myers announced the appointment of Mandeep Lali as the TTC’s new CEO, starting July 7. I was proud to stand with them at the announcement at Scarborough Town Centre Station.

Mandeep brings more than 20 years of transit experience, including leadership roles in two of the world’s largest subway systems – London and New York City. He joins the TTC at a pivotal moment, with record investments in safety, service reliability, and station aesthetics yielding outstanding results, and Lines 5 and 6 are nearing the final stages of completion.

It has been a great honour to lead this organization on an interim basis. For me, transit is much more than a job – it’s fun, and it’s in my DNA. Above all, it has been a true privilege to lead this great team of 18,000 talented and dedicated people. I thank you for that opportunity.

Over the next month, I will continue to lead the TTC and build on the momentum we have established together over the past nine months. And, throughout July, I will support Mandeep and ensure a smooth and successful transition.
