Message from the Executives
Office of the Chief Executive
Today, Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) Toronto launched its annual Project Red Ribbon Campaign at Wilson Garage. For many years, the TTC has proudly partnered with MADD and our colleagues in policing and emergency services to amplify their life-saving message. This year, two dozen buses will carry the faces and stories of those whose lives were tragically cut short by impaired driving – a powerful reminder of what’s at stake every time someone makes the wrong choice.
We stand with the families behind this campaign and share their commitment to safer roads. Each year, millions of red ribbons are distributed across Canada as a pledge to drive sober. I encourage you to wear one and help spread this vital message.
You’ll also notice temporary signage appearing as Dundas Station begins its transition to TMU Station, reflecting our partnership with Toronto Metropolitan University to advance transit innovation. The official unveiling will take place in December. Similarly, Eglinton West Station will soon become Cedarvale, and new entrances connecting to Line 1 opened last week, improving safety and access for our customers.
This week, we celebrated more than 240 retirees whose decades of service helped keep Toronto moving. Thank you to our Special Events team and TTC Pension Plan staff for making the evening memorable.
I’m also proud to share that Track Supervisor Jose Pereira received the Safety Leadership Excellence Award at the Canadian Rail Achievement Awards. Jose’s work at our Hands-On Training Centre is setting new standards for safety and innovation. The TTC was also recognized as runner-up for Best Canadian Transit Agency – a testament to the dedication of every one of you.
Finally, congratulations to the 60 employees who climbed the CN Tower to raise funds for United Way Greater Toronto, and to Nelson Rodrigues for an incredible time of 13 minutes and 47 seconds. Our 2025 United Way Campaign aims to raise $800,000 to support more than 300 agencies providing mental health care, housing, food, and essential services. Every dollar counts, and every effort matters.
Thank you for everything you do to serve our customers and our city. Together, we’re making a difference – on the road, in our stations, and in our communities.
With gratitude and resolve,
Mandeep S. Lali
