Message from the Executives

Office of the Chief Executive

As we move into November, I encourage everyone to support the Royal Canadian Legion’s annual poppy campaign.

Tonight, our city stands on the edge of greatness. As the Toronto Blue Jays play for the World Series Championship at Rogers Centre, we see firsthand the power of teams working in perfect alignment toward a shared goal. This is more than a baseball game. It’s a moment that shows what can be achieved when every member is committed, united, and focused on delivering their best.

At the TTC, I expect us all to embody that same spirit, in all that we do for our customers daily. When we work together across departments, roles, and shifts, we deliver exceptional service that keeps Toronto moving safely and reliably, especially during events that capture the world’s attention. Our teamwork tonight will not only support thousands of fans, but also demonstrate to the city and beyond what is possible when we are aligned, proactive, and dedicated to excellence.

As fans flood into the downtown core and gather for watch parties, our commitment to safety and service will be on full display. We’re increasing subway service, managing our surface routes, and working closely with the City on crowd management and emergency planning. The city relies on us every day, but never more so than at this moment.

I’ll be at Union Station tonight, standing shoulder to shoulder with our frontline teams as we welcome thousands of fans. Together, let’s show Toronto and the world what exceptional service looks like.

While we’re celebrating Toronto’s spirit, I want to reflect on another special moment from last week: Transit Diwali Night in Brampton.

It was wonderful to join employees and their families from across the organization to celebrate the festival of lights. The evening was filled with great food, dancing, games, and prizes. It was a true testament to the diversity and togetherness that make the TTC family so strong. Thank you to everyone who helped organize such a memorable event.

And as we move into November, I encourage everyone to support the Royal Canadian Legion’s annual poppy campaign.

Earlier today, members of our Executive Team joined the Legion, veterans from the Sunnybrook Veterans Centre, and members of the TTC Honour Guard at Leslie Station for the launch of this year’s campaign. The poppy is a powerful symbol of remembrance for those who served and sacrificed for our country. Please consider wearing a poppy and taking a moment to thank the veterans you encounter on the system.

Whether we’re celebrating our city’s achievements, our cultural traditions, or honouring those who have served, what unites us is our commitment to each other and to Toronto.

Let’s bring our best, support one another, and help make this a weekend to remember.

The TTC is ready. Toronto is ready. Let’s go Blue Jays!

With gratitude and resolve,

Mandeep S. Lali
