Message from the Executives
Office of the Chief Executive
This week, on March 18, we will celebrate Transit Operator and Worker Appreciation Day across our organization. This is an important moment to pause, reflect and recognize the essential role each of us plays in keeping this city moving.
The TTC is the heartbeat of Toronto. Every day, we keep the city alive and moving, connecting people to work, school, family, services, and opportunity. Our role is foundational. When transit is strong, Toronto thrives. When it is disrupted, the impact is felt immediately. That reality underscores just how essential your work is to the life of this city.
Simply put, every TTC employee matters. Our city depends on us, and that responsibility is one we should never take lightly.
This month, we are also recognizing the exceptional work of our engineering teams. Their expertise and commitment underpin the reliability of our vehicles, infrastructure and systems, and make it possible for our frontline teams to deliver safe, dependable service every day.
Over the past eight months, I have seen firsthand the strength of this organization. From the frontline to behind-the-scenes roles, and across our offices and divisions, the TTC is defined by professionalism, care, and a deep dedication to the people we serve.
That commitment shows itself during Toronto’s biggest moments, like festivals, major sporting events, and global milestones like the upcoming FIFA World Cup™. It is just as evident during the most challenging times, whether in moments of crisis or through the demands of a difficult winter.
This is the power of One TTC: 18,000 people united by a shared purpose. To reinforce that sense of unity, each employee will receive a One TTC lapel pin – a small, but meaningful symbol of our collective responsibility and our shared pride in serving this city.
To every TTC team member: thank you. Ours is a complex and demanding industry, shaped by constant change and high expectations. Yet each day, you rise to the challenge, bringing professionalism, innovation and care to your work, and supporting one another along the way.
It is an honour to work alongside you. You are the reason Toronto keeps moving forward, and I am deeply grateful for the dedication and pride you bring to this organization and to the people we serve.
Happy Transit Operator and Worker Appreciation Day! I look forward to celebrating with you on March 18 and throughout the month.
With gratitude and resolve,
Mandeep S. Lali
