Message from the Executives

Office of the Chief Executive

On Monday, we reached a tentative negotiated agreement with CUPE Local 2.

On Monday, we reached a tentative negotiated agreement with CUPE Local 2. These agreements require discipline, patience, and a commitment from all sides to stay engaged through difficult issues. With this step forward, our focus is where it must always be: delivering safe, reliable service for the people of Toronto.

Thank you for the professionalism you demonstrated throughout this period. You supported one another and kept the system moving. That consistency builds the trust our customers rely on.

I also want to acknowledge the highly skilled, safety-critical work performed by CUPE Local 2 members. Your expertise is essential to a system that is safe, reliable, and accountable. Monday’s agreement reflects that reality and positions us to move forward together as One TTC: one team with one shared purpose: providing world-class transit.

Recently, I met with employees from our Overhead Infrastructure team for a Coffee Club conversation. Their pride in their work and their dedication to maintaining the infrastructure that keeps our system safe were unmistakable. They shared insights on fleet reliability, procurement timelines, and workforce sustainability that will directly inform leadership discussions.

I also had the opportunity to recognize four employees for their years of service, a reminder of the experience and dedication that underpin our success.

We are preparing for a busy season. Rogers Stadium will again host 22 concerts between May 23 and September 16, with more than 50,000 attendees per show and at least 40,000 expected to use transit. Once again, as part of our partnership with Live Nation, customers leaving the venue can ride for free by showing their ticket. Targeted service plans will help us manage the significant demand, and strong customer service – central to last year’s success – will be essential once again. Line 1 to Downsview Park Station will be the primary connection, supported by Sheppard West and Wilson stations and an accessibility shuttle.

With the FIFA World Cup 2026™ less than a month away, frontline teams are deep into readiness planning, reinforcing safety fundamentals, strengthening co-ordination, and preparing for rapidly changing conditions. Events at this scale place our system on a global stage. How we deliver will define us.

Moments like this show what we can achieve as One TTC, working alongside our city and regional partners. The world will be watching Toronto, experiencing the diversity, pride, and hospitality that define this city and this country. Our role is central to that experience. Every safe trip, every reliable connection, every helpful interaction contributes to how visitors and residents see us.

Across all of this work, our priority is clear. We are one organization with a shared responsibility. Millions depend on us every day for service that is safe, reliable, and accountable. We earn their confidence through our actions.

We move forward aligned, focused, and committed to what matters most: safety, service, and the customers we serve. If you have feedback or ideas, I welcome you to share them directly.
