Message from the Executives
Office of the Chief Executive
Every day, millions of connections happen across our network. Many happen beyond the trips we provide through the relationships we build and the opportunities we help create.
While every trip connects customers, our success also depends on how well we connect with each other – how we collaborate and come together as one team, One TTC.
That theme was reinforced at our recent Senior Management Team meeting, where leaders from across the organization came together to align on our priorities and the actions needed to strengthen the TTC and deliver world-class transit. Our discussions focused on enhancing the employee experience, improving customer service, advancing safety, and building a sustainable organization. Progress in each of these areas depends on how well we work together.
Just as collaboration strengthens our organization, it also strengthens our industry. This week, Toronto hosted the MPACT Transit conference for the first time, bringing together transit professionals from around the world.
As the conference explored how transit creates stronger, more connected communities, TTC employees brought that vision to life through presentations and tours, showcasing the expertise that makes the TTC a world-class transit agency.
The same spirit of connection extends into the communities we serve.
Yesterday, we came together at our Wilson Complex to launch our 2026 United Way campaign. As part of this year’s campaign, we will raise funds to help over 300 agencies across the city provide mental health support, housing, food, and vital services to those who need it most. By working together with United Way, we can extend our impact to help strengthen the communities we serve.
Inspired by the enthusiasm at our kickoff event, I am confident if we work together as One TTC we can achieve our goal of raising $810,000 to support essential services for thousands of Torontonians.
Thank you to the event organizers and to our fundraising teams across the organization, whose commitment drives our efforts every year. I encourage everyone to get involved and help make this year’s campaign a success.
We have already seen the impact TTC employees can make through our Back-to-School Supplies Drive, where more than 2,000 school supply items were donated to local families. This generosity reflects the very best of our organization.
I look forward to our Annual Open House at Leslie Barns Complex this Saturday in support of United Way. This one-day event provides an opportunity for us to connect with the communities we serve and showcase the incredible work of our team in keeping hundreds of Toronto’s streetcars moving every day.
This week, I also had the opportunity to connect with employees at Malvern Division, where I saw that same TTC pride and sense of purpose on full display.
With over 750 Operators, 270 buses and close to 64,000 km driven a day, the Malvern team plays a critical role in keeping the east-end of Toronto moving every day.
To everyone who took a moment to share their day-to-day experience and ideas with me, thank you for your hard work, commitment, and for keeping our city moving every day.
Improvements often begin with employees sharing ideas, taking initiative, or trying something new.
These conversations help us better understand what’s working and where we can improve. Please also continue sharing your ideas with me.
Toronto continues to take centre stage this week. TIFF is a reminder that the work we do every day shapes how millions of residents and visitors experience Toronto. This was on display when actor Cole Sprouse gave the TTC a positive shoutout on the red carpet at TIFF. Recognition like this is built on everyday interactions, made possible by employees across the organization who take pride in serving our customers.
We know there are countless examples of TTC employees making a positive difference every day. If you have a great customer interaction, community impact story, or other positive TTC moment worth sharing like this, I encourage you to share it with us.
Through the connections we create, we strengthen our organization and build a stronger future for Toronto.
That is the power of One TTC.
With gratitude and resolve,
Mandeep S. Lali
