Message from the Chief People and Culture Officer

At the request of the Board, the TTC is introducing the Hubbard Award for Exemplary Leadership, a new annual award recognizing employees who demonstrate outstanding leadership and make meaningful contributions to the TTC, our customers, and the communities we serve.

The award honours Frederick Langdon Hubbard, the TTC’s first Black Board Chair. A respected transit professional, Hubbard also brought significant transit operations expertise to the Board, helping shape the TTC’s early development while breaking racial barriers in leadership.

Who can be nominated? The Hubbard Award is open to all TTC employees, in any role (unionized or non-unionized) and at any level of the organization. Leadership is not defined by title; it is demonstrated through actions, influence, collaboration, initiative, and commitment to others.

What are we looking for? Nominees should demonstrate one or more of the following:

• Leadership excellence and positive influence.

• Commitment to safety, service, and courtesy.

• Meaningful contributions to customers, colleagues, and TTC operations.

• Innovation and continuous improvement.

• Community engagement and support for equity, accessibility, and inclusion.

Submit a nomination by July 31: Help us recognize the employees whose leadership makes a difference every day.

Award recipients will be featured across the organization and have their name commemorated in the Hubbard Building (formerly named the Subway Operations Building) at Hillcrest Complex.
